Increase Firefox's URL Bar Font Size Without an Add-on

I was happy using Better URL Bar for Firefox (Light) when I decided I needed a bigger font.

Thanks to a couple of searches, I learned that I can easily increase Firefox's URL bar and search bar's font without installing an add-on.

Using this method:

  • No add-ons needed
  • You decide how big you want your font to be

  • Takes a few mouse clicks and keyboard typings

Done on Windows 7.

1. Install Firefox.

2. Open %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ (or %appdata%\Light\Light\Profiles\ if you're using Light).

3. Look for [profilename].default (e.g. xxxxxx.default). Inside [profilename].default, make a chrome folder if it doesn't exist.

4. Inside chrome folder, make userChrome.css if it doesn't exist. Inside userChrome.css, type:

#urlbar, #searchbar .searchbar-textbox {
font-size: 12pt !important}

5. Restart Firefox and done.

Along with changing the font size, you can also change the font family, among other things.

Using an add-on:

If you insist on using an add-on for some odd reason, install Better URL Bar.

As for me, I'm sticking with not using an add-on.
